Playable guides for any app

Four steps, a clip each. Try it here.
How it works
Live in an afternoon, not a quarter
- Step 1
Add one snippet
A script tag, an npm package or a Flutter package. Mark the buttons your guides point at with data-guide.
- Step 2
Build the guide in the dashboard
Point each step at a button, add a 5-second clip, pick how it completes. Publish without an app release.
- Step 3
Users learn by doing
Each step plays its clip, spotlights the real button and checks itself off when they tap it.
Platforms
One dependency on web, React and Flutter
The web SDK loads in under 3 KB and fetches the rest only when a guide starts. The Flutter package anchors guides to real widgets on iOS, Android, web and desktop.
- Web: script tag or npm, any framework
- React: a provider and two hooks
- Flutter: GuideAnchor around any widget
<script async src="https://cdn.playstep.app/sdk/v1/loader.js"
data-app-key="ps_pub_prod_your_key"></script>
<button data-guide="new-invoice-btn">New</button>import { playstep } from '@playstep/web'
playstep.init({ appKey: 'ps_pub_prod_your_key' })
playstep.identify(user.id, { plan: user.plan })
playstep.track('invoice_page_opened')import { PlayStepProvider } from '@playstep/react'
<PlayStepProvider appKey="ps_pub_prod_your_key" user={{ id: user.id }}>
<App />
</PlayStepProvider>await PlayStep.init(appKey: 'ps_pub_prod_your_key');
MaterialApp(builder: PlayStep.builder, navigatorObservers: [PlayStep.navigatorObserver]);
GuideAnchor(id: 'new-invoice-btn', child: FilledButton(onPressed: create, child: const Text('New')));Video first
Show, don't tell. Then let them do it.

FAQ
Questions people ask
What is a guided user?
Someone who was shown at least one guide in a month, in production. Visitors who load your app but never see a guide are free, and so are development traffic and dashboard previews. Users are counted once per month across all your apps.
What counts as hosted video?
Only clips we store for you, counted once per clip per session (loops replay from the cache). Clips on your own CDN and YouTube or Vimeo embeds are never counted.
What happens when I go over?
On Free, new users stop seeing guides until next month; people already in a guide finish it, and your app keeps working. On Pro, the first 10% over is free, then usage is billed at $2 per 1,000 guided users and $0.05 per GB, up to your spend cap (default $25).
Which platforms are supported?
The web (any framework, via a script tag or npm), React, and Flutter on iOS, Android, web and desktop. React Native is next.
Do I need to release my app to change a guide?
No. Guides are published from the dashboard and are live within a minute. Your app only needs the SDK and data-guide attributes (or GuideAnchor widgets) on the elements guides point at.
What data does the SDK collect?
Guide events (shown, step completed, finished, dismissed) with a hashed user ID, the platform and the anchor. No form contents, no screen recording, no cookies.
Can I cancel any time?
Yes, from the billing portal. Monthly plans stop at the end of the period; any outstanding overage is charged when you cancel.
